ACTHA ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS PROGRAM
We realize the enormity of the problem of equine unemployment and as we all know, trail riding is the largest segment of the horse industry. We are firm in the belief that with all of us, all of the competitive trail organizations working together, educating and sharing information with our riders that we can encourage long term use of our friend, the horse, and can introduce a wide variety of trail events for all types of horses and riders – to the benefit of all organizations.
ACTHA ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS ARE OPEN TO APPROVED COMPETITIVE TRAIL ORGANIZATIONS PARTNERS BEGINNING
JUNE 1, 2015
In keeping with our mission to end equine unemployment and recognize the value of all trail horses, no matter their discipline, ACTHA will honor placements from approved organizations holding competitive trail events tou count towards ACTHA Achievement Awards. Our goal is to promote and reward competitive trail riding, and together, we can give the Great American Trail Horse the recognition he so proudly deserves.
We will recognize competitive trail events both on the trail and in the arena, where riders receive a score/placement (not a "for fun" trail ride). Examples are organizations shown below, breed shows, or any recognized trail class comparable to our Arena Obstacle Challenges. Note: Only points earned in ACTHA events will count towards ACTHA National or State rankings.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?
ACTHA members are eligible to receive Achievement Awards and recognition for participating in ACTHA events, or events sanctioned by our Competitive Trail Organization Partners listed below.
Achievement Awards are given to the owner of record at the time that the award level is achieved. An owner may assign an “authorized rider” to ride the event in ACTHA competitions to earn points towards achievement awards. Both owner and rider must have valid member accounts. Points earned while owner or rider is not a member to not count towards achievement awards.

DON'T SEE YOUR ORGANIZATION ON OUR LIST OF PARTNERS?
If your organization is not on our list yet, send us an email requesting them to be recognized or reach out to your organization and have them contact us. We'll take care of the rest! The organization must be recognized as a legal and legitimate equine organization with the ability to verify event roster and placements.
HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?
As a member of ACTHA, you're entitiled to the Achievement Awards Program benefit! You DO have to let us know when you've reached a milestone (for now at least!) by emailing your ACTHA ACCOUNT NUMBER, RIDER'S NAME, HORSE'S NAME, MEDAL/AWARD EARNED, and DATE to [email protected]. We'll verify your points, ship out your certificate, and connect you with our sponsor to get your rewards. Points for ACTHA events are automatically recorded on your account. If you're claiming points that you earned with other organizations, you'll need to follow the submission instructions at the bottom of this page. We will do our best to keep track of your horse's points regardless of what event you participate in, so long as you keep us informed.
ACTHA Members register their horses in our lifetime recognition and registry. A horse remains in our registry regardless of whether the owner is an ACTHA member. These points add value and distinction to the Great American Trail Horse, no matter where they go.
HORSES earn points towards achievement awards so long as the horse is ridden by an ACTHA member in approved divisions (Open, Pleasure, Junior or comparable divisions). ACTHA “Scout and Buddy” rides do not count towards achievement points. Points stay with the horse throughout it’s lifetime, regardless of the owner’s membership status or change in ownership of the horse.
OTHER EVENTS SCORE DIFFERENTLY THAN ACTHA, SO HOW WILL POINTS BE CALCULATED AND TRANSFERRED?
ACTHA places a value on "placing" not points earned. In doing so, we can accommodate all scoring systems and recognize different formats, whether it's an endurance ride, competitive trail ride, or arena obstacle challenge, or event a trail class!
1st Place=7 points 2nd place=6 points 3rd place=5 points
4th place=4 points 5th place=3 points 6th place=2 points
